CHELATION THERAPY
In the early 1950s, Drs. Clarke and Mosher in Detroit postulated that because calcium composed a significant part of atherosclerotic plaques, EDTA might be of benefit in the treatment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. They were the first to treat occlusive vascular disease with EDTA and observed positive results with marked improvement in circulation. That resulted in the earliest published reports of effectiveness of chelation therapy for occlusive arterial disease. 2-4 Meltzer and other early pioneers in EDTA therapy also reported clear-cut improvement in arterial function; however, the maximum benefit did not occur until approximately three months after a course of treatment. Meltzer and co-workers stopped their study of EDTA in the treatment of atherosclerotic vascular disease because they did not see immediate results, only to resume their study after patients later called to report improvement.(REF: www.drcranton.com)
